Kesha claimed on Sunday that she was given an offer to recant her statement about rape against Dr. Luke, the producer. Apparently, she was offered her “freedom” to do so.
“So. I got offered my freedom IF i were to lie. I would have to APOLOGIZE publicly and say that I never got raped,” the 29-year-old singer (née Kesha Sebert) wrote along with an Instagram photo.
“THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS behind closed doors,” she continued. “I will not take back the TRUTH. I would rather let the truth ruin my career than lie for a monster ever again.”
Luke has denied all her allegations and is countersuing Kesha for breach of contract and defamation. Kesha has sued him for verbally and sexually assaulting her for a decade. Dr. Luke, on the other hand, claims that it is an extortion plot so that she is released from her multi-record deal.
Christine Sepera, Luke’s Lawyer says, “Ms. Sebert, who in sworn videotaped testimony from 2011 stated that she had never been sexually abused or drugged by Dr. Luke, is neither a victim nor the appropriate person to be held up as an example for this important issue.”
In February, Kesha had requested the New York Supreme Court to allow her to record and release her music outside the contracts she has with Luke and Sony Music. The request was denied.
In response, many pop stars spoke up about the issue supporting Kesha. Luke, though, has publicly denied all claims.
“I didn’t rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her. Kesha and I were friends for many years and she was like my little sister. Kesha has denied under oath the horrible allegations now being made against me,” he wrote.
